Felicity Merriman is a spunky, spritely girl growing up in Virginia in 1774, just before the Revolutionary War. Felicity grows impatient doing the "sitting-down kinds of things" that colonial girls are expected to do.
She much prefers to be outdoors, especially riding horses! Felicity learns about loyalty and responsibility - to her family, her friends, and her country - and what it means to be truly independent.
Felicity was the first doll added to the American Girl collection in 1991.
The initial three, Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly launched the collection in 1986. In 2002, Felicity and her outfits, accessories and furniture were removed from the mailed catalogs and relegated to online ordering only. Since that time several of her accoutrements have become sold out. In this way, Felicity had been effectively discontinued as a full member of the American Girl collection. This decision on the part of Pleasant Company has saddened many in the American Girl collecting community, especially those who collect Felicity or were consideringing collecting her.
However, in 2004, because of incredible negative feedback from fans of Felicity, and because sales of Felicity items at the new AG Place New York were very good, Pleasant Company has decided not to retire her! In fact, in August 2004, three of Felicity's previously retired items were reintroduced. Her School Outfit, Colonial Undergarments and her Shoes, Stockings & Garters set are available again. Best of all there will be an American Girl Felicity TV movie this Fall!
Felicity's best friend, Elizabeth Cole, was added to the collection of American Girls in September 2005. Just like Nellie, Elizabeth will likely not be a limited edition doll, but will be a continuing part of Felicity's collection!
On November 29th, 2005, Felicity was seen in her own TV Movie on the WB television network entitled "Felicity - An American Girl Adventure." Details, including more pictures, are available at AmericanGirl.com! |

The only reason why ppl really like Felicity is becuz of her NEW LOOK AND NEW MOVIE. I liked her before they had all this other stuff. And they like becuz of her friend doll. I can't belive the prices for the dolls are $100! It worth WAY LESS than that. Besides you buy one on ebay or amazon for less than 50 dollars. The New American Girl Company wants the JUST THE MONEY! Ever since the old company sold it to the new one its been a wreck. When the older company was here, In colonial Williamsburg you could have Tea lesson, etc. JUST LIKE FELICTY but no..... The new company wants all the money!! Besides it's all in fact true. If u ask the company they'll say no, becuz they won't tell the truth! |

I agree that the AG dolls are a little over priced, but I still like her new look, and I like her the best 'cause she loves horses. What do you mean the NEW company?? |

I think she means the NEW company in terms of when Mattel bought the AG line:( one of the reasons that they've branched out into somany other things that just historical dolls and stories |

*BeForTheyChangedU* is right! The new company just wants the money! The old company didn't charge that much money, and they cared about the people who wanted to buy the dolls, becuase they are learining about history, and the dolls from the old american girl company where better quality before mattel took over, and I also like the old version of felicity better! she had more redder hair. And felicity was always one of my favortie before the movie came out, and I really liked her before the movie came out, because they only selled her online, not in the catoulogue. |

Felicity was in the catalog when she originally came out, I think in 1991. They took her out some years ago because she was the least popular doll. than they stopped selling some of her items, and they were going to discontinue her altogether, except they didn't because of fan complaints:)

Yea, she was in the catoulogue when she 1st came out, she was very popular when she first came out also. And yes, I knew about the whole thing they took her out and everything, stoped selling some of her items, etc. And again, I heard about them going to discount her, and some people said they got so much mail of complaints about felicity, (from the fans, of course!) so, I guess that's why they didn't discount her.....and maybe they made a movie about her, so hse would be more popular? |
